Lethe has become a dangerous place. The 'controllers' are losing the fight to an invisible enemy, powerless to stop someone from killing their users. Players are being lured into black ice causing their bodies to flat line. In real life people are facing the reality of a serial killer who may be a copy cat or the re-emergence of a nightmare. The press are having a field day, while the virtual community are beginning to close ranks. For the first time since the 'Big Crash' Lethe is having to justify its existence.
Meanwhile the Rebel Underground are capitalising on the publics growing unrest, gaining more sympathy for 'The fight for Life against Virtuality'. Graffiti once again spreads around the city. This time the war on the streets will unite the races, but split the population in a new more dangerous demographic, it's the 'Vurts' against the 'Fleshers'.
Behind the scenes Valhalla, the mega corp behind Lethe inc., are preparing for an offensive. They want the past to stay buried. Rumours that they caused the 'Big Crash' might be true, but no one else is going to bring down the system now that they own it.
In a society where technology is as seamless as the air you breath, things are getting hot in the city. And in Lethe it's just business as usual.
